Not only if you plan on living healthier and wish for a more natural diet but also if you have weight losing goals, you should cut out from your daily alimentation routine these types of “junk drinks”. Drinking low-fat milk every morning will definitely make your day better. Although it has many calories, a small glass of milk per day will not do you any harm. Green tea can also be mentioned in the healthy drinks category and if consumed regularly (that means on a daily basis) the benefits it will bring to your metabolism and immune system are countless and significant. Not to forget water which is the most widely spread and accessible healthy drink. Also it is the cheapest. My advice is to drink at least two liters of water every day.

Although most think that ditching your fast food eating diets will do it, I strongly believe that the secret and the key for staying healthy is to also take care of your body and mind by drinking healthy.

Nowadays healthy eating is, weirdly,  a very neglected concept. I say weirdly because almost everybody knows the implications of unhealthy eating. In spite of this, fast food restaurants, chemical additives factories and generally speaking the whole “artificial food industry” have blossomed in terms of customers and, of course, profits.

The first question that comes in mind right now is “Why?”. The answer is quite simple. The fast pace development and rhythm of today’s society leave less time for household jobs like cooking. Now if we are talking from the producer’s point of view we come over a different kind of story. Artificial grown vegetables and fruits grow faster, last longer and look better ( notice I haven’t said anything about their taste, I’ll leave that to you ). The same goes for the artificial ingredients which are in almost every refrigerator in the world. The well known and vastly discussed emulators ( or E-s) are harmful substances that are included in many of our daily  snacks. Adding everything up, the producers use chemical additives to make fruits and vegetables grow faster and make conserved products last longer, in one word profit. This makes healthy eating more and more difficult.

While multi-national companies are calculating their profits a second question comes in mind “Why not eat healthy food?”. The answer is not quite simple. Again I think that society and the light speed development of technology contributed decisively in this process. Let’s make a few parallels between 1995 and 2010. In 1995 you see children running around with apples in their hands, the grocery-stores are full of home-grown chemical free fruits and vegetables, people eat home-made food every day. Now let’s take a look at 2010. McDonalds and KFC restaurants are always full, and the fact that worries me the most is that the are almost full with teenagers, twice a week we eat some kind of mutant, over-grown tomato which taste like cardboard and the well known saying “An apple every day keeps the doctor away” has been replaced with something like : ”I’m loving it”.

I’m not saying that in our days it’s impossible to eat healthy. No, in fact it’s quite easy if we read the labels of each and every product we buy. Natural vegetables can still be found in the country-side and its not that difficult to make a salad every once in a while. People have to think that healthy eating is, for children especially, a foundation that will provide in later years harmonious development and that will prevent health issues. We have to look further that what society dictates and we have to know what is good for our health and what is not. Bear in mind that every toxic substance that we introduce in our bodies will, sooner or later, take it’s toll on our health and our bodies. From the most influential business man, CEO or economic director, writer or scientist to every simple man or woman working in a diner or restaurant, people seem nowadays to enjoy really much eating fast food meals. And apparently very often we can not speak about an occasional lunch in town or ordering take out food  from time to time. To be honest, the food looks and smells absolutely great, it’s tasty, affordable and in addition you have plenty of options to choose from. Also in spite of not being scientifically proven it is a well known fact that fast food is fairly addictive. But let’s stop for a quick moment and think about the implications of this daily routine. Although the food doesn’t give you any headaches by having to actually cook it or by filling up your kitchen with smoke, it also doesn’t have beneficial effects on your physical condition. We very often forget our health is influenced by our daily alimentation.

Regardless of the fact that not eating healthy will quickly result in putting on weight, this can and will also cause you heart conditions, high tension or even complications you don’t expect. The number of calories grows as you eat more sofisticated and industrialized food. Keep it simple and healthy!
