Bananas originate in the tropical Southeast Asia and are nowadays cultivated almost in all the countries of the world. They are quite unique because they don’t grow in tress but they come from large plants that are related to the orchid family.
Bananas represent the widest spread fruit crop in the world. They were brought to the Americas by the Portuguese in the 1500s.Honduras and Guatemala were known as the “Banana Republic”. The top banana producing nations in 2007 were India, China, Philippines, Brazil, Ecuador and Indonesia.

Doctor’s orders are that we should eat five fruits and vegetables each day in order to stay healthy. Bananas would represent a perfect part of this healthy diet as they are rich in vitamin B and contain a lot of fibers, magnesium, vitamin C and potassium. Lucky for us, bananas are now available all year long and have rapidly become over the years, the most popular fruit in the United States of America. They do not contain sodium, cholesterol or fat which might be found in other fruits and vegetables.
I was curious to know more about banana health facts. The only two things I knew about banana benefits were the fact that it is healthy to eat them because eating fruits is healthy and secondly that a squashed banana applied to one’s face and left there for about 10 minutes every day, reduces wrinkles and provides you in time with a smooth baby face. But that’s all I knew until I made this research about banana health facts. The nutritional value of banana as well as the fact that they do not contain fat makes them a perfect snack especially after exercising.
Bananas are a rich source of energy because of the minerals and vitamins they contain. They should be eaten also before exercising as they provide the body with a lot of energy.You can easily replace caffeine with bananas and not expose your body anymore to the damaging effects that caffeine might have. Bananas consist of fructose, sucrose and glucose which represent a real source of energy.

Bananas can be used against depression because they contain an amino acid called tryptophan which helps the mind and body to relax, lifting up your spirit and making you feel happier. Bananas are good for anemia because they contain iron and they also represent an eyesight protection. If consumed regularly they can prevent kidney problems and keep them healthy. The large amounts of potassium protect us against high blood pressure and represent a real source of stress relief.
As you can see, banana health facts are numerous and remember, we have not mentioned all of them. So don’t forget, eat at least a banana every day and you will provide your body with its’ daily source of energy and health!
