Healthy Crock Pot Recipes

There are many crock pot recipes that are great selection of ingredients such as canned condensed soups, salad dressing mixes, purchased soup and also big pieces of meat and these recipes are very healthy and delicious because they contain low levels of sodium, low fat and less cholesterol . Here are some examples of healthy crock pot recipes . One such example is slow cooker pork roast with vegetables
For this you need the ingredients : some boneless pork sirloin roast, 1 spoon vegetable oil, 1 acorn squash, 2 sweet potatoes, peeled, ½ cup apple butter, 2 spoons prepared horseradish , 1 spoon cornstarch, ½ teaspoon ground allspice, ¼ teaspoon pepper or m ore if you like it, 1 cup chicken broth and 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
The first step is to heat the oil in a heavy skillet and there you cook the pork roast until it changes its color into a brown on all sides for about no more than 10 minutes . Meanwhile , you can cut the acorn squash into eight wedges and take care to remove the seeds but make sure not to peel them . Then you peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into chunks

In a slow cooker, put the sweet potatoes and squash and on top of them add the cooked pork roast . In a bowl, mix the following ingredients : apple butter, horseradish, cornstarch, allspice, pepper, chicken broth, thyme and after the mixture is ready add it in the slow cooker . In the end you have to cover the crock pot and leave them to be cooked at low heat for 7 or 9 hours because in the end the vegetables and pork should be tender .
Other example of healthy crock pot recipe is southwest steak and beans crock pot recipe . For preparing it, you need the following ingredients : some flank steak, 1 chopped onion, 3 gloves garlic minced, 16 chunky salsa, ½ teaspoon dried oregano leaves, 2 teaspoons chili powder, ½ teaspoon salt and less pepper, circa ¼ teaspoon pepper , 15 oz can black beans drained and rinsed , 1 red bell pepper sliced, 1 yellow bell pepper sliced and 3 cups hot cooked rice . The first step is to trim excess fat from steak

Then you have to take the onion and garlic and place them on the bottom of 3 or 4 quart slow cooked and on top of them put the steak . In a bowl, you have to mix the salsa, oregano, chili powder, salt and pepper and in the end add it on top of the steak .
The last level on the top is covered with the drained black beans . Make sure to cover the slow cooker and let it cook on low heat for 7 to 9 hours and in the end the meat has to be tender . Then remove the meat from the cooker and slice it into strips and then add it again to the cooked together with the peppers and put the cooker on heat and cook it for another 30 minutes and serve it with rice .
