This kind of a diet is scientifically proven to be one of the main causes for diseases or conditions such as obesity, heart diseases, diabetes, high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and even some forms of cancer. It is indeed hard to change you eating habits, but it is still possible and the benefits of a healthy diet are most definitely worthwhile.

So how do we manage to change our alimentation? There are many sources of information regarding eating habits but still many people still ask themselves how to eat healthy. Firstly, you should try to replace gradually your unhealthy alimentation. Rather than trying to lose weight by eating almost nothing for days, you should, for instance remove the unhealthy products in your diet one by one and make one little change at a time but stick with it and include it in your daily routine. If you wish to eat more fruit and vegetables, also do this gradually. Add them in some recipe that you are already fond of, add carrots or broccoli to you lunch soup. If you like sandwiches with lots of meat, try some healthier options such as poultry or turkey instead of pork. After changing one or two aspects of your diet and including them in your lifestyle, continue replacing the other things you consider unhealthy but, once again, do not try to do this over night.

Secondly, try not to eat more than you need to. Control your calories and try not to fill up your plate. You can approximate the number of calories you need daily. For a healthy diet, and especially if you plan on losing weight, it is vitally important that you know how many calories and nutrients do your body require. When buying meat, dairy, or milk go for the low fat or free fat options. Eat more often poultry, turkey or fish and if you happen to choose cow or pork do not cook the fat. The taste is not that different in the case of products with fewer calories and fat.

Nutritionists recommend at least 2 glasses of natural fruit juice every day. You can also make fruit salads. An ideal fruit salad, according to the specialists, should include a banana, a fresh orange and a quarter of a peach. You can also include fruit in your diet by adding them in a bowl with cereals or eat them between meals, as a quick snack. Vegetables are also highly recommended and you can also add them to other things you constantly eat sandwiches, eggs, meat stuffing and so on. It is very important also that you avoid sodas, pies, cookies or other sweets you can buy at a local store. Replace them with fruit and drink more water or low fat milk.
