Healthy Living

There are a number of factors to consider when it comes to ensuring that you have a healthy lifestyle. Diet and rest play key roles in helping us stay healthy, but it is exercise that is perhaps most important when it comes to healthy living.

Many people are deterred by the very mention of the word exercise, largely due to unhappy memories of games and PE lessons at school. Exercise does not need to be intimidating though, and it is important to stay relaxed and happy when exercising in order to maximise its effects.

Exercise Promotes Healthy Living

Exercise underpins almost every other aspect of healthy living, which is why it is so important. It creates an appetite, which then needs to be fed using the right foods and fluids. It also helps us sleep much better, meaning that our rest is of a much higher quality and we deal with stress better.

So what can someone do to add more exercise into their lifestyle and routines? It will be a relief for some people to read that there is no need to immediately splash out on a pair of expensive running shoes or a super road bicycle. It is easy to make some relatively minor changes to a lifestyle to boost the amount of exercise someone takes.

Easy Exercises

Firstly, consider how many journeys you make on foot each week. Then think about how many of these could be made on foot. There will probably be at least one or two of these journeys which can be made by foot, rather than in the car or on the bus.

If you have a family with children at school, then walking them to and from school in the morning can be good for them, as well as you. It is also worth making a point of taking the children out to the park, or to the swimming pool. It will surprise you just how physically tired spending time with children can make you.

Another way of incorporating more exercise into your healthy living regime is to cycle or walk to work. Once you have got into a routine of doing this every day you will be surprised by just how easy it is.

Distances up to three miles will be suitable for beginners. If the route includes one or two hills, then so much the better. Challenging yourself with some exercise is the key to a healthier and happier lifestyle.
